James Lemanowicz, MBA, FAAIDD, the Assistant Director of Research at the Institute was honored with a special award on June 7 at the Annual American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) Conference in Pittsburgh, PA.

Jim, an Institute staff member for more than 40 years, was recognized for his life-long commitment to working with, and for, people with disabilities. His work has focused on quantitative analysis, quality assurance, deinstitutionalization, waiting lists and evaluation of life for people with disabilities.

Some of the many projects that Jim has worked on include the Pennhurst Longitudinal Study and the National Consumer Survey, and the Pennsylvania Independent Monitoring for Quality project. In addition to his numerous authored and co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles, Jim has chaired the AAIDD Research Interest Network, co-chaired the AAIDD Assemble of Interest Networks and served on the joint public policy committee of the AAIDD and the Arc of the US.

Jim has been a member of AAIDD for more than 30 years and was named a Fellow of the Association in 2013.
