Date and Time

Monday, May 11, 2026 from 6 pm to 8 pm ET

Talking about sexuality with your young and grown loved ones with disabilities can be difficult. As parents, guardians, and family members, we often worry whether talking about it gives permission and whether they can be safe from harm when they are in relationships. This workshop will help you become more comfortable and prepared for these conversations.

Topics Include

  • What is Sexual Health?
  • Barriers to Communicating
  • Human Sexual Development
  • Tips for Talking

Session Format

This virtual training will be interactive with small and large group discussions. We aim to provide a safer space to learn together how to best support our loved ones with disabilities.

  • Participant limit is 40 attendees.
  • Registration is required.

Session Accessibility

Automatic closed captioning and image descriptions will be provided. Please contact iodhsp@temple.edu to share additional access needs. We will do our best to accommodate them.

Who We Are

This program has been going strong for over 20 years. With an original focus on criminal justice and sexuality, we have longstanding partnerships with community and state partners across Pennsylvania. We work closely with the PA Office of Developmental Programs and helped create the 2018 “Sexual Health, Personal Relationships, and Sexuality Guidelines,” a guiding document for programs across PA.

In 2022, the Healthy Sexuality project joined the Institute's Health Equity team. We see sexuality as an important part of people’s health. We focus on providing comprehensive sexuality education for people with disabilities and their supporters.

Prioritizing a Safe Environment

The Healthy Sexuality Project acknowledges and respects the many intersecting identities of the disability community.

We prioritize creating a safe environment for people to explore new ideas. Embracing intersectionality strengthens our goals to create safe and inclusive environments for all.
