Emergency Preparedness topic of Institute's upcoming webinar

GRAPHIC: Hurricane satellite photo and smartphone...READY?In recognition of September as "National Emergency Preparedness Month," the Institute will sponsor a webinar entitled Are You Ready? Emergency Preparedness, Assistive Technology and Persons with Functional and Access Needs.

Scheduled for Thursday, September 13 at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, the webinar will detail the role of assistive technology (AT) reuse and emergency readiness in preparing consumers who have a variety of needs (including access and functionality) for disasters and emergencies.

Jamie Prioli, Assistive Technology Specialist and Program Coordinator for the Reused and Exchanged Equipment Partnership at the Institute, will introduce participants to the supplies needed to make a personal emergency "go kit."" Ms. Prioli, also a specialist in Emergency Management Preparation for People with Functional Needs, will demonstrate 10 apps for the Android, iPad and iPhone commonly used for emergency preparedness.
