Volunteers from four Temple organizations gathered on Wednesday, March 9 to prepare for the "Spread the Word to End the Word" rally on March 15 and 16.

On the first floor of the student center, volunteers will encourage students, staff and visitors to "sign the pledge" to Stop the R-Word. They will have the opportunity to sign the pledge on paper and online where they will agree to the following: "I pledge and support the elimination of the derogatory use of the r-word from everyday speech and promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities."

To make the pledge, find the "Spread the Word to End the Word" table at the student center on March 15 or 16 or visit the Special Olympics site: www.r-word.org.
