See a slideshow of the Institute's Katrina donation event!
On Saturday, September 24, 2005, the Institute on Disabilities in
partnership with the Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN)
sponsored a day-long event to collect donations of durable medical equipment
for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. With vans arriving packed full of equipment
from local organizations and businesses, as well as single donations from
individuals, an 18-wheeler truck was filled to its capacity. "This was an
enormous success", said Dr. Diane Nelson Bryen, Executive Director of the
Institute. "We are grateful to the people and organizations who donated as
well as the Temple staff from many different departments who made this day
possible."
The equipment will arrive at LATAN in Baton Rouge by week's end and will then be distributed to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
LATAN will continue to accept financial donations. For information, log on to the LATAN website - www.latan.org.
